Nutritional and physical condition diagnosis of rural school students of the commune of El Carmen -Ñuble Region, Chile

Abstract
The objective of this study was to analyze the nutritional status and the level of physical condition of the students from 6 to 12 years old rural schools in the commune of El Carmen. The study was with descriptive cross-sectional design. Weight and height measures were used to develop the nutritional diagnosis and four physical condition tests were taken: The 6 Minute Walk Test (TM6), Agility 4 x 10 m., Horizontal jump without impulse and adapted Wells -Dillon test. The results show 62.6% of students withovernutrition, physical performance averages of 600 m in TM6, 15 '' in the agility test, 115 cm in the jump test and 24.71 cm in flexibility, there are significant differences when analysing by gender, age and nutritional diagnosis. We conclude that our students have a higher level of over -malnutrition and lower physical condition, compared to a similar population nationwide
